She began her long career in the field of Journalism after her graduation. She initiated her career at the KMIR 6 News, which was an NBC-affiliated TV. This was stationed in the Palm Springs, in CA. She worked for around 2 years as an anchor and reporter, she joined WTVJ in Miami, Florida in 2005 after leaving KMIR. This is a station owned by NBC. Here she was for 7 years as a weekend evening news host and a general assignment reporter. During her stint there, she covered on major national and international stories. These included the significant stories such as the 2006 NBA championship, the year 2012 Floridan Republican primary program, governor’s race of the 2010 in Florida and the mission Neptune Spear which captured and killed Osama bin Laden. In 2005, she looked similarly into the stories relating the New Orleans and Mississippi and the Hurricane Katrina alongside and also the Haiti after the earthquake in January 2010, traveling to the same places to cover the news.

While in WFLD, Amara worked as a weekend evening news anchor where she covered on the 2012 U.S. presidential vote from the then president President Barack Obama's and his re-election campaign.
